College:
University of Miami (FL) - Two-year starter at Miami and finished his Hurricane career ranked second all-time on Miami’s career rushing list.

He is the only player in school history to post consecutive 1,000+ rushing seasons and ranked second in school history with 497- 2,960 rushing despite starting only 17 games. His 35 total touchdowns tied Miami record of FB Steve McGuire (1989-92). Edge ranked first in school history with 14 100+ rushing games and had 12 multi-TD career games.

During his time at the “U”, Edge established school season records in yards and TDs with 242-1,416, 17 TDs. James scored 114 points, surpassing previous Miami seasonal record. A career highlight was when he broke school and conference single game rushing records vs. UCLA with 39 attempts for 299 yards and three TDs.

Honors included AP All-Big East first-team, Football News All-Big East, The Sports Network Sophomore All-America team, Football News honorable mention All-America.

Pro:
Originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the fourth-overall selection in the 1999 NFL Draft, James was the NFL’s leading rusher in his first two seasons in the league.

James signed a four-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals in 2006 after spending seven seasons with the Colts.

He is a four-time Pro Bowl selection.

Personal:
Edge donated $250,000 to University of Miami athletics department in 2000, the largest donation by a former athlete. The university has honored James by naming the football meeting room after him.

Founded the Edgerrin James Foundation. The Edgerrin James Charity Basketball Classic in Immokalee, FL, annually includes more than 20 NFL players. The proceeds go to Immokalee (FL) High School and the Edgerrin James Foundation.

In the spring of 2005, Edge purchased state championship rings for all of the players, coaches and cheerleaders involved with the football team at his former high school and donated $100,000 to the school.
